Many people have a business idea and passion for it. But few understand or have the research to prove the idea will work.

The goal of this course is to provide you with the tools to analyze your customers, industry, and competitors. You will leave the course with an action plan that can determine if your idea is the right market opportunity.

During this course, you will:

  • Determine the market problem your business will solve
  • Develop a framework and research plan to better understand your target customer, industry, and competitors
  • Develop a unique value proposition (UVP) statement
  • Draft your business concept statement

This course is the second module in the NYC Department of Small Business Services’ (SBS) five-course Introduction to Entrepreneurship series.

If you are a pre-startup, we recommend you complete the first course in this series, “First Step to Starting a Business,” before taking this course.
